Well our area is filling up again at the "barn" at Glory Days Antiques.
         After Christmas it was getting a bit empty looking but we have brought in loads of new items, or rather, old items and it is getting all filled up once again.

We have cleared out all the Christmas from the "Barn" at Glory Days and at Coburg Antiques. We had a wonderful Christmas season, but now look forward to the new year. We are bringing in lots of new items and will soon be filling the areas with Valentines decor. The salvage area is now in the back area of the barn,and we will be filling it with doors, windows and various other materials. Please stop by and see the new look. Remember there is an awesome deli at Glory Days, so if you are coming with friends, relax and have lunch. Happy New Years !

A big thank you to all our wonderful customers that made this year a success. We truly appreciate you and look forward to serving you in the coming year.
We traditionally take down our Christmas decorations on New Years eve so we can look forward to the New year and move on from the last. I have been organizing my work area in preparation for the new year. We have lots of new items to bring into the store and will begin the transformation this week. There will be several new cupboards ,tables and other furniture pcs.

It has been a busy month for Colbycottage, between restocking in Eugene and going back and forth to Portland to restock at the Monticello, we have been really on the move. Now we are enjoying preparations at home and all the fun that comes with that.
If you are one that is still searching for gifts, stocking stuffers, decorations or even a cupboard to put them in, there are still lots of items to choose from at both Glory Days Antiques and the Coburg Antique mall.
If you are heading out to GloryDays Antique mall, we have everything 20% off now till Christmas. Hoping that will make it a little funner to shop.

We are still set up in Portland at the Monticello Marketplace and the show continues through December. It has been a fabulous show for us so far. Thankyou to all of you that have made the trip up to Portland.

On the home front we are restocking locations weekly and still bringing in Christmas decor. We also are bringing in new furniture pieces and lots of other items. If you are out and about please stop by. The store changes weekly and there are always venders restocking their areas

We are busily preparing for the Monticello Antique Marketplace Christmas Show. It is an amazing show and a magical experience to visit at Christmas. If you haven't been there, plan a trip, you will love it!
We have a large area to fill so we are gathering, building, sewing , painting, and tagging in preparation of our largest show of the season. It starts December 2nd

Coburg Antique Mall Christmas open house~This weekend

We spent the day preparing our area in Coburg for the Christmas open house. It starts tomorrow at 10 am and extends through the weekend. We also breezed through the mall and there are wonderful items to choose from. Not only great Christmas decorations but also furniture, gifts and all those sweet things that remind you of your childhood.

Wagon Loads of new items

It is hard to believe we are at the end of October and November is soon to arrive. We are preparing a magical Christmas Open house at the Glory Days Antique Store . There are lots of new venders and great changes in the store. The open house is coming right up. It will begin November 3rd at 5pm-8 and go through the weekend. There will be lots of wonderful Christmas gifts, wreaths, home decor, and of course yummy treats and cider to sip as you shop.

We are in the process of transforming the "Barn" into an enchanting Christmas shop. Please come out and enjoy the fun.

We have been working away on all kinds of items for both store locations. Today we thought we should break for our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. We do this every year and try to take advantage of the few beautiful sunny days in October. We had a wonderful day , we rode the hay ride through the fields, ate yummy cobbler, picked apples and as always took lots of pictures. If this isn't something you do , I encourage you to take time to enjoy the local farms.
We have just brought in lots more Rosehip bundles at both the "Barn" location and out at Coburg.

There are lots of great changes happening at Glory days . We had a late work night and changed the entire front desk area . Looks great and will be very functional for the coming holidays. There are new dealers moving in and others retiring.

Rosehips are here!!! A fabulous way to decorate for Fall

The Rosehips are here and they are Beautiful! We have brought in bundles of rosehips to the "Barn" at Glory Days . We will continue to stock it with fresh bundles every couple days. The wreaths will be coming soon so keep watching the blog for updates.
We have been thinking Christmas around here and have begun planning for some events . We will post times soon. We are ordering in lovely holiday decor and working on hand crafted items as well.

Thanks so much for all that came out shopping at the Coburg Antique Show. It was a wonderful day and the show went beautifully. The weather was lovely, the customers fantastic and we went home with lots less than we came with. Over all it was a great show. We are once again going to be at The Coburg Antique Show. This year we will have our biggest area ever. We have been working hard preparing for this wonderful event. If you haven't been to this great antiques and collectibles event you are really missing out. There are 350 dealers , food venders, and other entertainment.There is a fantastic selection of vintage furniture, smalls and pretty much anything you can imagine. If you are looking for something fun to do, take a short drive out to Coburg and browse through the assortment of antique stores in that quaint little town. We now have an area in the Coburg Antique mall. There are two buildings and we are in the back building.
Our area is full of what could be described as Urban farmhouse decor . We will be changing and restocking weekly. Stop by and check it out if you are in the area.

The barn area in the back of Glorydays in Springfield is also packed with treasures and changes weekly. There is now a very comfortable quaint little deli that is opening this week. Make sure and give it a try. The owner is sweet and loves to prepare yummy food.

Thanks to all of you that came to the craft supply sale, I was able to clear out my sewing cottage and make room for my son who will be home from the service this week. If any of you had seen it previously, you know that was quite an ordeal to clean it out.
I will fly to Texas Tuesday to see Aaron graduate from medic training and then be home preparing lots of fun items for Spring.

I have spent all week preparing for a huge sale for you crafters. I am parting with piles and piles of extra fabric and trims. There are chenilles, cutter quilts, barkcloth, vintage fabric, bags and bags of vintage lace, There are old frames, glitter, and various other supplies. I have moved my crafting studio and am selling everything that wont fit in the new area. Come on over and help me clear the excess. Prices are cheep and the more you buy the better they get!

We have learned to let go of some of the details we agonize over, knowing there are things that are much more important. So Friday we will have our Christmas show, it might be a little less perfect than we want, however we will have our children healthy & whole. What more could we ask for.

Angels Abound !!

We have great cause to stop & thank God for His protection.

As we wake up Wednesday morning we know many awake to unbearable grief & pain. This day we wake to great joy knowing that in a split second our lives could have been changed forever.

These pictures are of the vehicle after the Tuesday night crash with Kathy, her children, & my Hannah. Another car ran a stop sign at 55 mph and t-boned them. They spun several times, taking out a large light pole & tree. It was a rainy, muddy, chaotic scene. The children terrified not to mention Kathy. The car hit the drivers side where Kathy was driving & Hannah sitting in passenger seat behind her. Jaws of life were used to get everyone out. All occupants left hospital later that evening with minor injuries. A true miracle!!!

Monday At Twig

Part of our decision to take a space inside an antique "mall" stemmed from the fact that we didn't have to man the shop 24/7. As much as we love our friends & customers we know our families need us first. There will be days you won't find us at Twig. Those are the days we are transporting kids, teaching math, crafting with our little ones & dining with our men. The job as wife & mother will always be our God given priority. Our passion outside of that role is an added bonus. We get to create, design, dream & utilize the other gifts God has given us. We want balance & perspective in all areas of our life.
So for the next year we will be at Twig when time & family allow. Weekends you will often find us with various little ones at the shop.
But as I said I am certain there will be times you will miss us, please email us on our blog for questions or special orders. We will generally answer quickly & try and help you as much as we can.
It is our prayer that this next adventure blesses others & glorifies God.

Christmas at Twig

If you had asked us Thursday morning we would have told you not to expect our best. But true to both our styles we could not give you anything we weren't proud of.

Well our efforts certainly were worth it. Twig is abundantly filled with treasures new & old. The rosehip wreaths are stunning & ready to go home (they are selling quickly) , the snowmen are nestled among the boughs of evergreens & holly. The soaps & sachets a fragrant treat. Dwarf boxwoods peak out of their burlap homes & the stacks of white stoneware glisten in their simple beauty.

We have filled, stuffed, arranged & hand-crafted an array of beautiful things, we are excited to have our customers see this incredible space.

Talk about last minute notice!!!! This is what happens when two already busy ladies get talking and decide to venture out and start a new business. Thus the beginning of TWIG. A European inspired marketplace. We will have all sorts of home comforts including, soaps , lavender sachets, rose-hip wreaths, potpourris, pillows, linens, dishes, lots of functional and lovely items to buy for gifts this season.
We will be having a sneak preview opening tonight in the new "barn" at Glorydays Antiques in Springfield. The store is located at 143 N. 21st street. Times for this weekend are as follows : Thursday 5-8 Friday 10-5,Saturday 10-5,Sunday 12-5.
Please join us this weekend. We will be adding lots of merchandise daily. We simply ran out of time so it will be filled up daily open to shop throughout the season. Rose-hip wreaths will be available this evening

Closing in on the One Year Mark

First of all we'd like to thank all of you for being wonderful and faithful customers. As most of you know, we are just finishing up our first year in an actual store setting. It has been a great year with many growing experiences, but with all things considered I have come to the conclusion that I am not meant for managing a store, but for being at home with my children. This has been a long and thought out decision and I hugely value each of you as both customers and friends. You have supported us, encouraged us, and shared your life with us throughout the year. But in some ways this has been a very difficult year for me. I have never been away from my children before and, as they are still young, I feel I am needed at home. We will be closing the store August 7th. There will be a huge sale held in the store and parking lot August 5th, 6th, and 7th. We will be lowering the prices on many items and clearancing out many items.

I have been crafting and selling antiques for many years, and will continue in some new and exciting venues. The details have not been worked out, but we will keep you posted. Thanks again so much and we hope to see you at the sale.

What a surprise to walk in the shop this morning and be greeted with this beautiful bouquet from some of our favorite customers. They are the prettiest peonies i have ever seen. Thanks to everyone who came to our Garden Sale last weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Our garden is now officially open to shop in and have tea parties. We put out a lot of new merchandise this week and now is a great to time to come shop and start thinking about Mother's Day! We also seem to have a bird thing going on! Lots of bird pictures, bird nests, bird magnets, and birdhouses! It might be a great time to bring your mom out and spend an afternoon for tea! Our teahouse is open Thursday-Saturday 11-4.

The sunshine has gotten us thinking Spring. I am so excited at the thought of flowers springing up . Somehow after a dreary wet winter it is the ultimate surprise to see little flowers coming up that you have forgotten. We are planning a Spring open house and special sale at Colbycottage. It will be April 16 & 17. Hopefully there will be lots of flowers weather permitting. We are gathering garden items in anticipation. The backyard will be opening as soon as it is warm enough to be out there. We will be hosting showers. parties and special gatherings this spring and summer so think ahead and make reservations. In the mean time enjoy the sunny days and stop by the store when you have a chance.

All this rain has made me feel the need for change.We have been moving things all around at the store and adding new items daily. Some large items have sold and there are new ones to replace them. The large main room upstairs was crying out for some soothing colors so we changed it all around. If you haven't stopped by lately, come on in. The coffee is awesome and the teapot is always ready.

We also are in the process of changing things all around in the store, After pulling out the Christmas items I was inspired to move things around. We had a great Christmas season at the store and enjoyed many wonderful customers. We had the pleasure of serving numerous Christmas High Teas and entertaining various other groups as they spent time with family, friends and coworkers . All fun things must come to an end as did the Christmas season.
Now it is on with the new year. We have been cleaning, fluffing and restocking. There are even signs of Valentines Day around the corner.
One thing you might want to take note of is a change in store hours. We will now be closed on Tuesdays until spring. The new hours will be .......

We feel it is important to constantly be filling the store with new merchandise and of course that takes time to accomplish. Please come and visit us on the days we are open and browse through new treasures.

We had a wonderful Christmas High Tea on Sunday. Thanks to all who came out and allowed us to serve them. Heating the building has turned out to be an event in itself. We finally got it warm before the visitors arrived .All in all it was a lovely time shared with friends. We enjoyed the quaintness of the tables nestled into the rooms so much that we left them set up. If you are out and about, stop by for a bit of tea. Time spent with family and friends is dear during this busy season.

We are having an open house this weekend with Hot cider and treats. There will be special carolers by candlelight Friday at 4:00 and we will be open till 7:00 pm. Saturday the fun continues with hot cider and treats 10-5:00 and then the Special high Tea Sunday by reservation. There are still some later afternoon openings if you are in the mood to be pampered. This should be a fun time with tables nestled throughout the store. Come on out and enjoy the holiday season with family or friends.

We will be having a special weekend this Friday and Saturday at the store. There will be live carolers Friday afternoon and evening in a candlelight setting. Come and feel enjoy the season as we listen to old fashioned carols. There will be Hot cider and treats and lots of new items to discover tucked throughout the store.
The fun will continue Saturday with cider and treats and Sunday is the special Christmas High Tea. The high Tea is by reservation only and tables will be nestled throughout the store. There are still some times available. Please call for reservations.

Thanks to all the wonderful customers that showed up for our Christmas open house. We had a magical weekend . Lots of Christmas music, treats and smiles. If you missed the weekend , don't worry, we are restocking and will be open our normal hours.

This weekend is our special Christmas open-house at the new store. As many of you know we have put on the Christmas Memories Antique and craft show in Eugene for the past 9 years. This year we will be filling the store from top to bottom with magical Christmas delights.
We will open Thursday the 12th from 4:00-8:00, for a special early shopping evening. Come and enjoy treats and hot cider while shopping for Christmas treasures.
The store will open Friday at 10:00 am and stay open till 8:00.Saturday hours are 10:00-5:00. Please come and join us for a this special Holiday weekend.

Thank you for the kind comments in response to our car wreck. Its another week and we are all getting back to normal. The injured young man is still in the hospital and we are there for him if he needs us. Our Rosehip weekend has been great and we have had many calls from all over in response to the wreaths. For those of you wondering if we will ship them ~Yes we will!!! We have looked into the shipping and have sent off some already. You may contact the store either by E-mail or by phone. A big thankyou to all the wonderful customers that joined us this weekend for our rosehip event. We had a busy and bustling time around the store.We were blessed with some fabulous helpers that that did a great job helping customers. I barely left the kitchen as several groups gathered for tea. Our First big Fall Event!

Our first event to celebrate Fall will be October 23rd and 24th. The Rose hip Queen will be up to her crown in berries as she prepares gorgeous wreaths to decorate your homes for fall.
There will be loads of fresh berry wreaths along with bundles of rose hips that can be used for your own creativity.Hot cider and cookies will be available and there will be a door prize to enter for the first 100 people.
Come early to choose your wreath. The store will open for the event Friday morning at 10 am. Come and lets celebrate Fall!

Now I realize that autumn actually started yesterday at two something pm but today is the first full day of fall. Don't you just love it? It's one of my four favorite seasons.

We are continuing to add wonderful things to the store so if you've already been here, you need to know that "new" items are already finding themselves on display. Perhaps it would be a good idea to make another trip down here to see if we've aquired something else that would look great somewhere in one of your displays. Look at this great restaurant-ware.

The Time Is Drawing Near!

Even though we open in a couple of days, we still took the time to hunt for treasures at the Coburg Antique Fair.

We knew from experience that Coburg is an event which is always potentially fruitful and we were not disappointed with our finds. You can expect to discover and possibly own many of the items we uncovered for you today.

Let me just interject a little parenthetical statement here. We really enjoyed seeing so many of our friends at Coburg today and appreciated hearing the encouraging comments regarding this endeavour of ours. We are truly looking forward to your visits to our store and we will strive to make each of them unique and exciting for you.

After a full day in Coburg, we headed back to the store to continue our efforts to make opening day a success. As you can imagine, not all of the preparations are as exciting as designing and decorating the fun little vignettes that we are preparing for you.

Fortunately, there has been some help from friends and family to get us to where we hope to be on Tuesday.

We don't want to spoil it for you by showing you the completed rooms. So instead we will show you a few little areas, hoping you will stop in for a visit. Please enjoy these images with the anticipation that the reality is going to be even better than what you see here.

A Family Affair

Wow this has been a busy week!

Fortunately, we are supported by a lot of love and family.

Our new cottage has been cleared out and we have been able to paint and touch up each of the rooms.

The work force has been diligently attending to business.

Here's Marv doing great work.

Fortunately, he is highly skilled at making things look beautiful.

Oh yes, and Miss Gracie and her assistant are also attending to some important painting details.

Not to be out done, Aaron is adding his talents to the project.

If it weren't for all of the additional help this project would be far more work and much less rewarding!

We continue getting in more new and old merchandise.

Things are starting to come together and it is so exciting.

We are looking forward to opening our doors and showing you everything we've been working on.

Sometimes a situation looks completely overwhelming until one starts to see a little progress. Allow us to share some of our babysteps towards completing the facelift in each of the rooms of the cottage.

This is the second room that we've been able to tackle. As you can see, it has wonderful potential and just needed to be emptied and given a touch up.

Ahhh! Now this is sooo much better. Don't you think?

Imagine with me how this room will look when we can finally start to fill it up again with treasures like these.

Colby Cottage is so excited to announce the beginning of a completely new undertaking. We found an antique store that needed new owners or should I say, they found us and we are so excited. We have committed to making it a new and exciting experience for antique shoppers in the Eugene area of Oregon. It is our aim to make this store a destination that will not disappoint its patrons whether they are local, from greater Oregon, or even from beyond the borders of this state.

In addition to featuring a choice selection of antiques, we plan to host a gourmet coffee bar, and also serve a fine bouquet of teas including loose leaf selections.

Have you ever enjoyed high tea with friends? We will be specializing in hosting high tea events for you and your special guests. We will have a few designated areas inside the cottage for tea events and we are excited to let you know about our outside dining area in the garden.

We are anticipating that sometime in September will be the first day that we will be open officially as Colby Cottage. Please continue to check regularly in order to keep abreast of any updates.
